1. Orang Korea suka makan bawang putih karna dipercaya dapat menetralkan darah..

3. Sekarang di Korea tidak ada ujian penentuan kelulusan untuk pelajar. Di Korea, 2 minggu sebelum ujian, perpustakaan penuh oleh para pelajar yang ingin belajar.
4. Di Korea, Jika dosen terlambat walau hanya 2 menit, maka dosen akan segera meminta maaf kepada mahasiswanya.
5. Semua mahasiswa korea diwajibkan untuk cuti selama 1 semester atau lebih selama menjadi mahasiswa.

HANJI (한지;韓紙)

Hanji atau Kertas Korea (한지;韓紙) adalah kertas tradisional Korea yang telah digunakan sejak 1600 tahun yang lalu. Orang Korea menggunakan hanji dalam berbagai perlengkapan sehari-hari dan keperluan rumah tangga mulai dari buku, dinding, jendela, lantai, sampai peti mati. Dikatakan orang Korea memanfaatkan Hanji dari sejak lahir sampai mati.

Kertas ditemukan oleh seorang kasim pada tahun 105 M (Dinasti Han) bernama Chae Ryun (Tsai Lun). Sejarah masuknya teknik pembuatan kertas di Korea masih belum diketahui karena tidak dicatat dengan jelas. Namun teks sejarah Jepang menyebutkan bahwa seorang biksu (asal kerajaan Baekje) bernama Tamjing membawa serta kertas, tinta, batu tinta dan batu asah ke Jepang pada tahun 605. Dari Korea kemudian teknik membuat kertas menyebar luas ke Jepang. Pada abad ke-11 dan 12, teknik membuat kertas di Korea telah berkembang pesat. Istana kerajaan Goryeo (918-1392) mendukung perkembangan pembuatan kertas dan keterampilan mencetak sehingga banyak teks yang menerbitkan tulisan tentang agama Buddha, pengobatan serta sejarah. Pada saat itu kerajinan kertas dinamakan Goryeo-ji (kertas Goryeo) dan dikenal luas di Cina. Banyak teks Cina yang memuji kecantikan kertas Korea dan banyak ilmuwan dan bangsawan mereka yang mencari produk kertas Korea di samping keramik hijau (cheongja) dan ginseng Korea.

Hanji adalah kertas yang terbuat dari bahan yang alami, sehingga dijuluki kertas kehidupan. Tidak seperti kertas di barat yang dibuat menggunakan bahan sodium hidroksida, kertas Korea dibuat dari bahan yang alami Hanji terbuat daripada kulit pohon mulberi yang dinamakan chomok. Terdapat 3 jenis tanaman pohon mulberi di Korea tergantung dari kondisi iklim dimana mereka tumbuh. Setiap jenis pohon mulberi mampu menghasilkan jenis kertas yang berbeda-beda. Contohnya pohon mulberi mayopjong yang sebagian besar tumbu di wilayah tengah Korea, memiliki ciri khas tekstur yang keras namun tipis dan sedikit kandungan seratnya. Jenis ini digunakan untuk kertas lantai. Jenis Yoyojong memiliki kulit kayu yang tebal dengan serat yang panjang dan lembut. Jenis ini digunakan untuk kertas kaligrafi.Hanji memiliki banyak manfaat. Berbagai perlengkapan rumah tangga dan peralatan sehari-hari orang Korea dibuat dari hanji, antara lain kerajinan tangan,payung, lentera, sepatu, boneka, kertas untuk melapisi pintu, jendela, dan lantai. Hanji berguna pula untuk mengatur cahaya, temperatur serta kelembabapan dalam ruangan dan juga melindungi pemilik rumah daripada tiupan angin. Upacara keagamaan pun memerlukan hanji, terutama karena orang Korea yang menjunjung tinggi Konfusianisme. Kertas yang berwarna putih memiliki makna kesucian dan kemurnian digunakan untuk berbagai upacara formal. Dikarenakan tekstur dan permukaannya yang bagus dan lembut, sejak lama hanji disenangi kaum ilmuwan dan pelukis di masa lalu. Bahkan kantor pemerintahan menggunakannya untuk merekam catatan-catatan.

Hanji memiliki ciri khas daya tahan yang tahan lama dan bahkan bisa bertahan selama 1000 tahun (melebihi umur manusia ya .. o_O ). Tekstur permukaannya lembut dan tembus cahaya dikarenakan jenis pohon mulberi Korea yang berkualitas baik seperti berserat panjang dan kuat. Salah satu bukti daya tahan hanji adalah masih tersisanya buku cetak tertua di dunia, Jikji (1377) yang saat ini disimpan di Perpustakaan Nasional Perancis di Paris serta teks sutra Buddha Mugujunggwang Daedaranigyung (751) yang juga merupakan Memori Warisan Dunia UNESCO.

Walaupun diperkenalkan dari Cina, namun sejak tahun 610, teknik membuat kertas Korea menjadi berbeda dengan kertas Cina. Pada abad ke-8, Korea mengembangkan teknik dan proses pembuatan kertas yang lebih eksklusif. Pertama-tama, batang pohon mulberi yang digunakan harus ditebang antara bulan November dan Februari, kemudian direndam dalam air selama semalam sampai kulitnya mengelupas. Setelah mengelupas, kulit tersebut harus dikeringkan kemudian direndam lagi dalam air yang dingin dan jernih. Kulit kayu yang telah mengelupas kemudian direbus bersama campuran jerami gandum dan jerami padi, lalu ditumbuk dan disaring. Hasil saringan akan menjadi kertas dan kemudian dikeringkan. Salah seorang ahli atau pengrajin hanji bernama Jang Yong Hun (68) dari Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, dianugerahkan pemerintah Korea Selatan sebagai aset budaya hidup. Jang telah membuat kertas tradisional sejak berusia 19 tahun. Semenjak meluasnya produk kertas barat, penggunaan hanji sudah mulai berkurang sejak tahun 1970-an. Permintaan akan mesin pembuatan kertas moderen semakin meningkat karena tidak memakan banyak waktu. Pengrajin kertas Jang Yong Hun telah bersusah payah mempertahankan teknik membuat hanji karena ia merasa perlu untuk melestarikannya. Jang Yong Hun sampai sekarang masih memproduksi kertas tradisional bersama keluarganya.
